The Institute of Physiology functions as the leading physiological research coordinator over Siberia and Far East. Since the foundation of the USSR AMS Scientific council on medical problems of Siberia, Far East and Far North in 1983, the Institute of Physiology has performed coordination of scientific studies for research institutions and institutions of higher education of Siberia and the Far East on two problems of national standing as a parent body of the task groups “General and applied physiology” and “Age and functional morphology”. As a part of the USSR AS and AMS scientific council on applied human physiology problems, the Institute did the lead in the task group on “Human ecological physiology in north regions”. The Institute was also the chief research coordinator of the USSR AMS regional program on “Medical and biological problems of rotation work system organization in industrial development regions” (shift work).
Today the Institute of Physiology is an apex institution of the task group No.56.02 on “Hominal and pathological physiology” of the RAMS and the 56th RF Healthcare Ministry scientific council on medical problems of Siberia, Far East and Far North.
